Wear OS SMB Quick Reference

Step-by-step guide: See Connect Smartwatch to NAS & PC Shares.

Both builds since S4029. SMB connections added on the phone work on the watch in the version from Google Play too. Typing a new connection’s username and password on the watch itself is noLegal only.

Add a Connection (on your phone)

Phone app → Resources → "+ Add Network Source" → fill in → Save

It syncs to the watch automatically. In the noLegal build this is the normal way to add one - the watch does not ask for a username or password. Not there yet? On the watch: Browse → Resources → Sync from Phone.

On Your Watch

What the watch itself can do in the noLegal build:

Browse → Resources → tap a connection   (browse and play)
Browse → Resources → Sync from Phone    (pull the phone list now)
Browse → Resources → tap ⋯ → Delete     (remove a connection)

Adding on the watch - development builds only

A + Add SMB Connection chip appears only in development builds. If you do not see it, that is expected; add the connection on the phone. In those builds the fields are the same as the table above, filled by voice input or the character picker, then Test Connection and Save.

Check a Saved Connection

Press and hold a connection -> Test

Reports the same result as the setup screen. Delete lives in the same menu and still confirms.

Apps on the watch

The watch home screen has an Apps section with small programs. They run on the watch itself, so they keep working when the phone is out of range or switched off. The version distributed through Google Play offers every program except the water flashlight, the distress signal and the health programs (S4029).

• Calculator - counting on the keypad, everything else behind the menu key. Your history and the memory value stay until you clear them.
• Network monitor (noLegal only) - what the watch itself is connected through: Wi-Fi, mobile, Bluetooth, location and whether the internet is reachable. Swipe sideways to move between the pages. A page appears only for hardware your watch has, and a reading your watch cannot take is labelled plainly instead of showing a zero.
• Game - the same rules and levels as the game on the phone, so scores are comparable.

The monitor measures only while it is open. Leave the screen and it stops.
