How to delete an account

This page is about the exchange server account you made with the app FastMediaSorter for Android, published by its developer SerZhyAle. The account lives on an exchange server - the one you run, or the one a person you know runs for you. The developer runs no server, so the account is deleted on that server, by you in the app or by whoever runs it.

Delete it in the app

  1. Open FastMediaSorter and then My devices.
  2. Open the menu of the server’s card and choose Delete my account.
  3. Type the account password and choose Delete account.

The server erases the account at once. Nothing has to be requested and nobody has to approve it.

Delete it without the app

Use this when the phone is lost, reset or broken, or you cannot sign in:

  • Ask whoever runs the server. The owner of a server can delete any account on it, and the erasure is the same as the one you do in the app. Tell the owner your login; it is on the server’s card in the app, and in the invitation you registered with if you kept it. The person who gave you the invitation is the owner or knows who is.
  • If you run the server yourself, open Share Manager of Fast Media Sorter & Sharing for Windows, go to the Media Exchange Server page and remove the account there.
  • Or use another phone. Install FastMediaSorter, add the server, sign in with the login and the password, and delete the account as above.

The developer of the app cannot delete an account on a server the developer does not run. If you do not know who runs the server, write to sza@ukr.net and you will be told what the app and the server can do - but nobody at that address can reach the server.

What is erased at once

  • The account and the hash of its password.
  • Every device of the account and its sign-in, the ones that were revoked included - the watch too: deleting the account on the phone ends the watch’s enrollment with it.
  • Every folder and broadcast the account published.
  • The clipboard on the server.
  • Pairing codes that were still outstanding.
  • Whatever was given to the account or by it: guest access and links with a password.

Its broadcasts end, and its login becomes free for anyone to take.

What stays

  • The server’s log, for the number of days its owner set. It carries no password, token, invitation or content, and a deletion does not rewrite it.
  • Copies already delivered to your other devices or to the people you gave access to.
  • Files in your own Google Drive, which you delete there. The exchange server never held them.
  • On your phone, the folders you had connected stay in your list and show as no longer published until you remove them.

Other ways to leave

  • Sign out on this device only makes this device forget the sign-in. The account and its other devices stay.
  • Revoke a device removes only that device from the account.
  • Uninstalling the app does not delete the account. Delete it first, then uninstall.
