The Mini-Game - Kryvavitsa and the Monster
Kryvavitsa and the Monster is a small turn-based puzzle built into FastMediaSorter. This page shows how to switch it on, the rules and the score, how to play with touch, keyboard, D-pad or gamepad, how to restart a level, the three looks and the watch version.
Why You'll Love This
Sometimes you wait - for a bus, for a long copy to finish, for the kettle. Kryvavitsa and the Monster is a small puzzle for those minutes: one move at a time, no hurry, no ads, nothing sent anywhere.
You lead a monster to the exit while its hunters close in. Every level is a little maze, and pushing a wall in the right place is often the whole trick.
- FastMediaSorter in any edition - see The seven editions of FastMediaSorter.
- Mini-game switched on in Settings, the Management tab, Additional programs and scenarios. It is off after installation - see Built-in programs.
Open the game
Once Mini-game is on, Kryvavitsa and the Monster appears in the programs menu, on the programs panel and, in the Standard and noLegal editions, on the launcher desktop. You can also put the Kryvavitsa widget on your home screen: it opens the game in one tap, and while the game is switched off it says Enable in Settings and is not offered in the widget list.
How to play? opens the rules and a legend of what each square is.

Learn the rules
Reach the green exit with the blue Monster before enemies corner you.
- Each move takes the Monster one square. After every move the enemies move too.
- The red Kryvavitsa hunts the Monster. The purple lesser Kryvavitsas wander at random.
- Gray walls can be pushed into a free square to clear a path. The thick border around the board cannot be crossed.
- If any enemy reaches your square or a square next to it, the game ends: Kryvavitsa caught you. Start a new game to try again.
- Reaching the exit: Exit reached. Start the next level when ready. Tap Next level.
Score: each move costs 10 points, pushing a wall gives 10, crushing a purple enemy with a wall gives 50, and reaching the exit gives 1000. The counters show Score, Level and Turns.
At the start of every level an arrow points from the Monster to the nearest exit for about a second, so you find your way on a big board at once.
Move - by touch, keyboard, D-pad or gamepad
Use whatever you have in hand:
- Touch - swipe in a direction, or tap the board on the side you want to go;
- Keyboard - the arrow keys, W A S D, or the number keys 8, 4, 6 and 2;
- TV remote or D-pad - the four direction buttons;
- Gamepad - the direction pad; the Y button restarts the level.
R on a keyboard also restarts the level, and Esc goes back. See Keyboard, D-pad and Android TV control for moving around the rest of the app the same way.
Stuck? Restart the level
If you have walked into a dead end, tap Restart level while the level is still being played. The level starts over, at the same price as being caught: 500 points are taken off the score. New game starts from level 1.
Choose how the game looks
The game mode button in the top bar opens Game mode with three looks. The rules are the same in all of them:
- Classic - abstract colored shapes: a blue Monster, red and purple enemies, gray walls and a green exit.
- Kryvavitsa - a light-gray field with black walls and people: you lead a man to the door, the woman with the machine gun hunts him and her helpers with knives stomp around at random.
- Contrast - every square drawn as a solid bright tile, easy to read on a small screen. A moved piece leaves a fading trace, so you always see which way it went.
Your choice is remembered, and How to play? describes the pieces of the look you chose.

Play on the watch
FastMedia Wear on a paired watch has the same game. The usual back arrow sits at the left middle of the round screen and a small Skip turn button at the right middle, so you can leave the game or spend a turn without moving without opening a menu. The score, the level and the turn count run along the bottom edge. More about the programs of the watch: Wrist programs, timers and tools.
What You Get
A quiet puzzle is always in your pocket: open it from the menu or the home screen, play with a finger, a keyboard, a remote or on the watch, and pick the look that is easiest for your eyes.
Tips and Troubleshooting
- Plan two moves ahead. The red Kryvavitsa always steps towards you; the purple ones do not. Put a wall between you and the red one first.
- Too small to read? Switch to Contrast - it was made for small screens.
- Do not want it at all? Switch Mini-game off: the game, its widget and its tiles disappear everywhere.
